State ExCEL Award Recipient

Stuart Scamehorn, a junior at St. Anthony Village High School, was recognized as a 2018 Minnesota ExCEL Award recipient.  Sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League, each Minnesota high school can nominate one female and one male in the eleventh grade who are active in school activities, demonstrate leadership qualities, and work voluntarily in their community.  The ExCEL Award highlights students who demonstrate Excellence in Community, Education, and Leadership.

Every member school of the League is invited to nominate one girl and one boy for the ExCEL Award. Nominees must:

a. be a junior in high school
b. make satisfactory progress toward graduation
c. participate in a MSHSL fine arts and/or athletic activity
d. hold a leadership position(s) in their school
e. work voluntarily in their community.

The ExCEL Award recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota and each recipient will be recognized on KSTC-TV (Channel 45) during the broadcasts of the 2018 winter tournaments.  This is the 23rd year the Minnesota State High School League has sponsored the ExCEL Award.
